Christmas Toy Drive

Christmas time is such a wonderful time! Its time for love, cheer, and, most importantly, giving. The young women decided to do a toy drive this year to help kids less fortunate. It was quite the project! We first, collected toys. They were collected in boxes at the church or collected from homes. Then the fun beings: We cleaned them all! Then separated them out into different catagories: books, dolls, dress-up, cars, stuffed animals, etc. Then, everything was bagged and taken to several different organizations over Christmas break.

Here are a bunch of pictures from the activity where all of the organization took place.

During that fiasco, we found some time to do some service for the missionaries as well. Its nice for them to have visual aides as they teach about the Plan of Salvation. So, we helped color some of those visual aides!

Thanks to all who donated toys to this cause. We know your sacrifice has brought a smile to the face of a child here in Lubbock and you will most definitely be blessed for this effort!

Makeup night

Once in a while, a girl just really needs to feel fresh, rejuvenated, relaxed and beautiful. If that's accomplished, then we feel ready to conquer the world! But, with the spunky young women we have, it was hard to do this without having a little bit of fun too.

We started with all-natural masks made from avacado, cucumber, and plain yogurt, with cucumber slices to go on our eyes. Turns out, plain yogurt is really good for your face: degerming and all of that. But, not the sissy stuff. It was full fat yogurt. Avacado is really great for providing moisture (so if your complexion is dry, use that) and cucumber is just a good refresher.

Application of said masks was... a little bit... interesting...

And then, we got to relax. Sort of.

The darn cucumbers kept falling off!

We invited Christi Brodrick to come and teach us a little bit about make-up. She helped us out with what colors go with which skin tones and how to apply for the look you want. Sister Iverson used to sell make-up, so she brought her supply to share with us. :)

And now, it's time to apply what we've learned about make-up!

Jessica and Charlotte came a little late due to a play rehearsal, so that's why they're still in the fabulous green masks. :)

Everyone left before we could get an "after" shot, but here are beautiful Brittany and McKenzie, all finished up.

Thank you so much, Sister Brodrick, for coming to help us out with our make-up night! We couldn't have done it without you! No, seriously, we couldn't have. Your talents have been shared to help us learn more about being beautiful.

Pumpkin Carving

This summer, since we were so few, we joined the Caprock Ward about once a month for an activity. This one was was an excellent activity, hosted by Caprock. We carved pumpkins for the 2nd annual Pumpkin Trail at the arboretum. We had such a fun time!

We didn't have enough pumpkins for everyone to do their own, so some people teamed up to tackle one. Ali and Addi worked together.

And, Amy and Naomi (Caprock) shared one.

McKenzie, Victoria, and Taylor got to work on their own.

I remember McKenzie was especially grossed out by the "pumpkin guts".

The finished products!

Thanks so much for letting us come and share your fun Caprock Ward!!
